Are you replacing the springs also? Might as well since you have it apart. The springs seem to fatigue and stretch and need replacing as often as the plates. But I haven't done this in ten or more years, maybe things have changed?

If you are replacing the springs I have found the aftermartket ones are stiff. I like stock but if you insist on aftermarket ones try replacing every other one so it is not to bad.

Pulled it apart late last night and looked at every single friction and steel with a vengence. I couldn't see any difference at all between any of them.

The only thing I noticed was that the first and last friction plate in the Barnett kit seemed to be "colored" differently. they were lighter in color. Maybe it was coincedence but I left them in the same order they arrived just in case.

I have new springs that I was going to replace but I don't want to have to stand on the clutch lever to shift. Maybe I'll put it all back together and see how it feels it before I fill her up?

Apparently it is rocket science. My ignorant ham-fisted techniques resulted in broken parts. Now I know....
