Default Changing Clutch Plates - Soaking Friction Plates

I have never attempted to change the clutch before but after doing some research it doesn't seem like rocket science (famous last words).
I am going to tackle this tomorrow but here's my question...
How long do I need to soak the new friction plates before installing?

There doesn't seem to be a real concensus out there. Some things I have read say 2 hrs, 4 hrs, 8 hrs, overnight, etc...
So I open up the new kit from Barnett and the instructions say 15 minutes. It also says that additional soak time is unneccessary and will make no difference.
I usually defer to the manufacturer for things like this but everything I read says "Make SURE to soak for at least xx hours!".

Thoughts from anyone who has done this?

Also, can I soak them in the old (1 trackday) oil or should it be brand spanking new oil?

semi off topic... is it better to soak them in regular or synthetic oil?

I obviously don't know for sure but the instructions said that it should be the same oil that will be used in the bike.

Yep.

And what I do is to let them soak while I crack the bike open.

Thanks...much appreciated.

What about the soak oil? Can it be the 1 trackday old oil I just drained or should it be brand spanking new?

It doesn't matter if it's old or new oil but preferred new, imo.

Watch how the plates come off and replace them the exact same way, depending on your bike the last plate sits different.
